Standing water? Let’s fix the drainage.

French drains, regrading, swales, catch basins, and downspout lines for soggy Gulf Coast yards — across Bradenton, Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, and St. Petersburg. Free site visit, plan and estimate in writing.

Every summer the same calls come in: the backyard is a pond after the afternoon storm, water is sitting against the slab, the pavers have a permanent puddle, or the new sod in one corner is rotting. Drainage is the least glamorous part of a Florida yard and the one that decides whether everything else survives.

We fix it the way a designer would: find the source, find the outlet, and pick the simplest thing that connects them. Sometimes that's a French drain. Often it's regrading a few low spots, burying the downspouts, or adding a catch basin at the patio. And when it's part of a bigger landscape renovation, drainage gets designed in before a single plant goes in the ground.

Why Bradenton, Sarasota & St. Pete yards flood

The Gulf Coast is flat, so water doesn't run off on its own. The water table rises through the rainy season, new-construction lots in Lakewood Ranch and Parrish are often compacted fill graded nearly level, and older St. Pete and West Bradenton neighborhoods have settled over decades until the yard tips toward the house. Gutters then concentrate a whole roof into a few corners. Each of those has a different fix.

Drainage problems we fix.

Standing water in the lawn

Puddles that sit a day or more after rain, soggy turf, and the mosquito pond that never dries out.

Water at the foundation

Grade that slopes toward the house, downspouts dumping at the slab, and splash-back staining the walls.

Side-yard creeks

The narrow strip between houses that turns into a channel every storm and never grows grass.

Puddling pavers + patios

Pool decks, patios, and driveways that hold water along one edge or drain toward the door.

Erosion + washout

Mulch, rock, and soil washing out of beds and across the walk every time it pours.

Drowning plants + sod

The same low spot where shrubs keep dying and sod keeps getting replaced.

Drainage solutions.

French drains →

Fabric-wrapped trench, washed stone, and perforated pipe that collects water below the surface and carries it to an outlet.

Regrading & swales

Reshaping the ground so water runs away from the house and along a shallow, planted or sodded channel to the street or a low point.

Catch basins & channel drains

Surface inlets at low spots, patio corners, and paver or driveway edges, tied to solid pipe that carries water away fast.

Downspout lines

Gutters connected to buried solid pipe that discharges at a pop-up emitter well away from the foundation and beds.

Dry creek beds & rain gardens

River rock and native plants that move or hold stormwater and look like part of the design, not a repair.

Dry wells

An underground chamber that stores runoff and lets it soak in slowly when there's no lower point to discharge to.

Most yards end up with a combination. The site visit tells us which pieces you actually need — and which you don't.

Drainage questions.

Why does my yard flood after every rain?

On the Gulf Coast it's usually a mix of flat or reverse grade, a high seasonal water table, compacted fill on newer lots, and gutters concentrating roof water into a few spots. Finding which of those is driving your problem is the first thing we do on the free site visit.

What's the best drainage solution for a flat Florida yard?

There isn't one answer. Subsurface water usually calls for a French drain; surface water with no path out calls for regrading or a swale; a single low spot or patio corner calls for a catch basin; roof runoff calls for buried downspout lines. Many yards need a combination, laid out in a written plan.

Can you fix drainage without tearing up the whole yard?

Usually, yes. Most drainage work is a narrow trench or a few regraded areas, and the sod and beds we disturb are restored as part of the job. Most residential fixes are done in one to three days on site.

My house is new. Is the drainage the builder's or HOA's problem?

It might be. If the home is still under builder warranty, check whether the lot matches the approved grading plan before paying for a fix, and check your HOA's rules on drainage changes and shared swales. We can document what we find on the site visit to help that conversation — and handle the fix and HOA paperwork if it ends up being yours.

Can you fix water pooling on my paver patio or pool deck?

Yes. Depending on the cause we add a channel drain along the edge, a catch basin at the low corner, or lift and relay the pavers to the correct slope. Paver and hardscape work is one of our core services.

Do you handle drainage as part of a landscape renovation?

Yes — and that's the best time to do it. On full renovations drainage is designed in before planting, so new beds, sod, and pavers aren't sitting in the same puddle the old ones were.

Do you serve my area?
